What, if some day or night a demon were to steal after you into your loneliest loneliness and say to you: 'This life as you now live it and have lived it, you will have to live once more and innumerable times more' .. Would you not throw yourself down and gnash your teeth and curse the demon who spoke thus? Or have you once experienced a tremendous moment when you would have answered him: 'You are a god and never have I heard anything more divine. Friedrich Nietzsche
About This Quote

Some might consider this a dark, or even a morbid thought. There is something disturbing about the idea of being cursed for all eternity. We don’t want to spend an eternity with demons, but we also have a feeling that there’s something to the idea. When we think about it, perhaps there is some truth to it.

Consider that once we die, we cease to exist in this world. We aren’t gone forever, but we are no longer around in any significant capacity. If we could live again and spend all of eternity with a god or demon, would we not do so? It seems like a fate worse than death.

Yet, if our soul is immortal and can live forever, then there’s no reason for us not to live again and again until the end of time itself.
